While at Lockitron I found myself in need of a portable demo unit for attending conferences, and the Drinkitron was the solution. It can be unlocked via the Lockitron app, and you can invite others as guests of the liquor cabinet with access limitations.

The box itself is lasercut baltic birch with mahogany veneer, brass hardware, and leather lining to cushion the bottles in transit. I made an inlay of the company logo in the veneer on each side as well. The mechanism was inspired by bank vaults, and the acrylic front panel has joints that attach it to the frame.

To maximize portability, the cabinet meets the overhead bin requirements of the smallest commercial flights and has hardware on the back to attach it to a shoulder strap. It’s flown many times and only drawn compliments from airport security.

It now resides at my home, protecting the best bottles of scotch.
